Swap later model tranny in truck 2wd 22r

Anybody have an idea of what is involved in swapping an 1993 2wd tranny into
a 1988 2wd tranny?Physically the tranny (W-55 I believe) is approx 1 inch
shorter and the rear tranny brackets are moved back 2 inches.Help, please,
if you have been here, done that!!

Re: Swap later model tranny in truck 2wd 22r

Well then the hell with it, i'll answer my own question.Had to find a
shorter tranny bracket as the mount is 2 inches further back.Had to get a
longer speedo cable as the speedo is on the passenger side and a couple
inches further back.Had to re-mount the gear shift rubber assembly back
approx 2 inches also.Runs good so far. This info provided for anyone
contemplating the same.Got the parts out of an 1986 longbed 4 cylinder that
already apparently came with a W-55...........
