noise and vibration in a '97 Tacoma

My son has a '97 Tacoma with 107k miles on it. He is experiencing a noise
(squeal) at low speeds and a bit of a vibration that increases with speed.
The noise and vibration are speed related, not RPM. What are the symptoms
of a failing U joint and the bearing that supports the split drive shaft?
Could either of these be the problem? TIA
