Fan Switch Removal on 93 PU

Anyone know how to remove the fan switch on a 93 pickup? As far as I can
tell, I have to remove the entire dashboard to slide the switch forward.
That seems extreme.

I think you can remove it by just pulling off the front a/c air cover to
get access. If not, then you will need to remove the bottom plastic part
of the dash. It's not hard and should take you about 15 minutes.
