Transmission problem

I have an old 1979 4wd and the clutch had been slipping some and
would engage at the very top of the pedal. I recently started the
engine and could not get it into any gear as if the clutch pedal was
not working. I shut down the engine and basically started the engine
in gear. When the truck moved, I shut it down and started it again in
nuetral. I can now get it into any gear regardless of whether the
clutch is depressed or not, but the truck will not move. No grinding
noises or anything. Any Suggestions before I drop the tranny?

Re: Transmission problem

check master cylinder and slave cylinder for clutch, get under truck while
someone else depresses the clutch, see if clutch arm moves significantly.
