What needs to be replaced?

Ok,

So this is a follow-up to my previous post.. I am currently getting my clutch changed, the mechanic is probably in the process of taking my tranny off to take a look and give me an estimate. He says: If its just the clutch thats gone, no problem. BUT, if I've somehow scratched/damaged the flywheel it will need replacing. Also, if I have somehow broken a shaft in the tranny, I will have to get a new one (transmission).

Basically: Car will not move at all, I can shift gears around without even pressing the clutch.

My question is: Is the mech. trying to rip me off by telling me this Shaft story, or the flywheel needing to be machined... or does that all sound true? The flywheel sounds believeable, but when he threw in "the shaft might be broken, might need new tranny" I was a bit skeptical.. dont wana be ripped off!

Any advice guys? The clutch was slipping for a few months, and I was on the highway when it finally gave up and I couldnt accelerate anymore, Had to roll to a stop off an offramp and into a gas station where it never moved again :S Btw, the engine is a 5s-FE non-4wd non-turbo. Thanks!!
