Help I Have A 1989 Toyota Cressida Was Working Fine One Day Came Home Parked It Nex Day Tried To Leave And Would Not Go Into Any Gear Just Revved Up Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated.also Does The Automatic Trans Have Anything To Do With The Rear Brakes They Are Getting Quite Worn

sounds like the tranny has just had it.the tranny has nothing to do with the rear brakes. if theyre wearing faster than the fronts then i would think you would have a prop problem i.e. the rears are grabbing before the fronts if theyre 4 wheel disc look for caliper leaks,hose leaks or just worn calipers. if all's good take a hard look at the master cylinder it could be losing a seal inside.if your brake fluid is brown flush that sucker till its clear then see if the braking improves.

you might also want to have a look at your trans fluid level... sounds like it's low or empty.

as for the brakes, do you know when each of them was changed last? front brakes usually wear faster and need to be replaced twice as often as the rears. if they were last done at the same time you've got either a master cylinder or proportioning valve problem

thot u may be interested in my problem solving pulled the transmission pan replaced a $25 dollar filter put in new fluid and run like a top
