1980(mx32) cressida

hey guys i'm currently working on selling my 87 gts coupe and i found a mx32 cressida that i'm gonna pick up. $750 no rust no rot 114k original miles on chassis fully complete and spotless i might add. anyway what do you guys think of a 1uzfe auto swap? good or bad. i'm looking for something old yet jdm baller style and a nice summer cruiser. and i think that would be a cheap smooth and reliable option for a swap.

opinions?

isidro u always find out my secrets lol i dont post any of my personal stuff on nedrift theres to much poo to sort thru i'm also workin on a sale for the 86. i went and saw the cressida yesterday in person its gonna need a bit of work the pics were a little decieving but it was totaly complete car all chrome trim and moldings were there as well as all interior pieces. and its a car that no one else is gonna want or see its out of sight and out of mind. it has a bad motor. there a bit of surface rust in places but no rot. 114k original chassis miles.
heres some cool info about it.(keep in mind its an 80', however, it was built in nov. 1979)
factory a/c
power locks
child locks in rear
power moon roof
auto climate control
p/s
and power windows.
and they all work.
so thats a pretty sik rolling chassis for $750.
oh and i could not find one dent or scratch.

Good find!
Trim and panels are nearly impossible find outside of rare example sin junk yards.
Mechanical bits are no problem to fix, replace or upgrade.

Nov 1979 wagon means it is a MX36L-WHNEA with a 4M-E EFI engine.
Or possibly Nov 1979 was only the first registration date rather than the build date, in which case it will be a MX36L-WHNEA with a 4M carburettor engine.
Find the exact manufacture date by body serial here:
http://jnc.farpost.com/data/framno/mx36.html
The find build details by date here:
http://members.iinet.net.au/~stepho/...m#cressida36pr

The bad engine can easily be replaced with any of the later twincam engines such as the 5M-GE, 7M-GE or turbo 7M-GTE, although all will require corresponding EFI computers and the turbo will require more work.
The various 1JZ and 2JZ engines and the Lexus 1UZ V8 can also be fitted with a bit more custom work.

haha idk how, but I always seem to find out what you're doing
and your secret is safe with me, as always
that car would probably cost $10,000 if everything worked
..and if you fix/replace the motor then it would be a retro baller machine!
good luck with that, ben
im surprised to see that the factory a/c still works and it doesnt have scratches!
and good luck selling the 86

Check the trans code on the build plate on the firewall in the engine bay.
If it starts with E (eg E291) then it won't be strong enough.
If it starts with F (eg F301) then it will be okay with an auto and marginal with a manual.
The Landcruiser rear axle with a G series diff is quite strong and lighter than a Ford 9".
Some Hilux's also have a G series diff (but many have an F series).

Watch out for the exhaust clearing the steering box.
Watch out for sump location fouling on the crossmember.
I can't remember where the sump is on an MX36
The LS400 and SC400 have different sump locations for the 1UZ, so this might help.
