1983 Cressida

dunno tho... I also found a '93 gen3 v6 5spd for $2000usd but the guy was totally shady when I spoke to him on the phone.

and the coupe was a flop. I asked if it was a 5spd and the lady was like yeah, so I went out (an hour out) to look at it and it was an auto but she insisted it was a 5spd auto

Still not sure if I'll even get a car for a while.

Dude that car is a great project car!
7mge RWD 5 speed Sounds like it is up to snuff with maintenance.
Of course we would never forgive you if you bought it and DIDN'T swap a 7M-GTE in there
Seems like more of a project car than a daily driver though. I mean it would be reliable enough I supose but not like a Gen3 v6 cam. It gets worse mileage and is probably slower.
But with a swap it would be sleeping monster

Congrats! I don't see a problem having a Cressida forum if it's justified.. meaning someone is willing to dig up all the Cressida threads of all time and populate it initially.

It snot a 7M-GE... its either a sohc 5M-E or a dohc 5M-GE there was a switch sometime in or around either Oct or Aug of 83 for the 84 and onto the 85-88 models. The 89-92 got the 7M-GE but they never came in a manual.

But the swap gods have sent me a chassis that will successfully hold a 1UZ-FE (link)...but thats WAAAYYYY into the future right now I just need to get to work in the mornings.

[edit] ...or a 2JZ-GTE

That's a lot of miles but it's had the seals done, you'd just have to check it out really well, do a compression test and the like.

Gen3 92-96

I thought about it but he's asking $3100 ...and with a mismatched fender... I've found a couple clean granny owned gen3.5 SEV6's for +/-$2500 with less miles and no admited "tweaking"

yeah but with a 5-speed? You hardly ever see 5-speed Camrys.
I've only seen one in real life.

Well two if you count the 84 I saw that was exactly like mine but had the turbo diesel and 5-speed. Now that's rare.

btw Chris, both my 85 and my 95 Camry's were 5spd ...so's my dad's gen4.5 and I founs a gen4 LEV6 5spd on the dealer lot the other day
