Canada cressida trouble with heat

Hey There! My '85 cressida has trouble blowing air. The heater blower doesn't work on 'low', i've already replaced the switch but made no difference. As well the temp. varies from hot to cold and the fan speed on 'auto' and 'hi' fluctuate. I'm not sure what sort of sensors may be envolved with this system, can anyone help? I'd appreciate any input, thanks, Lahey

I think you've got a bad blower motor resistor.

The following threads might give you some insight:

I suffered from the same issue, just never bothered to fix it.

You're welcome

Hopefully this is the issue. It may be a bit labour-intensive - you might have to take apart the centre console and/or the glovebox area

Yeah, I'm sure the thermosister must be faulty. I figured it must have been something like that. I own two '84 supras so i'm a little familiar with toyota's early climate control systems. However the cressida is new to me and i find it a little more difficult. I've got a 'Chilton's' manual ordered so i should be okay! Any idea what the little box labelled 'power steering' under the radio does?
