I just got a '95 Tercel and I'm pretty impressed with the gas mileage...I plan on keeping it for awhile. But this car is missing a very vital part: The interior fuse panel cover.
Because I don't have this, I have no idea which fuse controls what. Does anyone have this information, or could they check their cover out for me? I've looked everywhere but can't seem to find this information.
Thanks! I hope someone can help me...
I'm pretty sure I'm missing a fuse somewhere because my radio presets keep resetting and the clock does too. Even the dome light isn't working.
Is it a factory radio? or aftermarket? If it is aftermarket be sure that the yellow or orange memory wire is connected to constant power and not the ignition, if this wire is not connected right it will loose your presets and erase clock memory. If it is a factory radio, it may be faulty...chuck it and buy a new one. I find it hard to believe that a missing fuse would not keep your presets and clock memory, if it was missing it would not power the radio at all! Also your unfuctional dome light is not nessesarily a burned fuse, have you checked to see if the bulb is burned out? or it can be a faulty door switch mounted on the door jam. I am not driving my Tercel today so I cannot go ouot and tell you which fuse is what, and by the time I get home tonight someone will probably chime in on this one. However, you can pull one fuse at a time and check if it is burned and replace it. Good chances are that if it is burned you will have to replace it anyway!
Believe that there is a wire constantly connected to the battery (or at least a constantly live source) to maintain clock and presets. If it's a stock radio, if he is losing all power wouldn't it require a security code to reset it?
I had to install a temporary radio (old casette deck) while I wait for my new radio from eBay.
I'm pretty sure the yellow wire is connected to the ignition at the moment, so I'll go and re-check the wiring. I put a voltmeter on the wires and didn't find a 12 volt signal on any of them until I turned the key (thus my assumption of the missing fuse)
From what I've gathered from my research on the net, there are two fuses required to be in good order to get your dome light, clock and radio to work.
Isn't the yellow wire supposed to be connected to ignition?
Another weird thing: My clock (on the dash) comes on when I turn the ignition, but as soon as I turn my headlights on it dims to nothing.
Still, if I knew what fuse inside controlled what, I would at least be able to trace the problem.
I know that engine compartment fuse box has its share of fuses and at least the cover for that one isn't missing!

I don't have the stock radio in there, and yes the constant connection is required for any radio and the clock to retain memory. But that constant is still fused, and since there's at least two fuses missing from the under-dash fuse panel, I'm pointing to that as my problem! This radio fortunately doesn't use a security code (it's very old)
i would but mine is a 93 and i think the fuse boxes are different. sry i cant help

I don' thave a camera, but I was able to look at my fuse cover for you. Hope this helps you. Looking at the fuse box from the driver side this is how it should be:
STOP/GAUGE/ECU-IG/SRS
10A/10A/5A/5A
A/C/TURN/CIG.& RADIO
10A/7.5A/15A
TAIL/WIPER/IGN
15A/20A/5A
Hope this helps you.
Sorry, I can t get them to line up correctly so I added slashes to seperate the fuses, hope is not confusing. There should be a total of 10 fuses and 1 fuse block in the right bottom corner of the fuse box.
what also may work would be a haynes manual for your specific car. i am not positive as to whether or not the diagram is in there (it should be) but those manuals are awesome to have just because. they only cost something like $15, so it pays for itself in no time if only used for other information you need.
