hey guys..im new here in TN..and boy im so glad i found this forum..
anyways..
i just got a 92 Tercel (or is it a 91..i dunno) from my uncle..well..the problem is..i wanna change the engine for the car...i checked the thread above (the one stickied) and i found it very informative..so that solves my problem for wat engine to choose..(by the way..il go wit either a 4EF-TE or a 4AG-ZE)..
my other problem is..i dont know wat other parts to replace after the engine swap...do i have to change the tranny?! the suspension?! the brakes!? i really have no idea..im really dumb at this kind of things..im really sorry...all i know is change engine..put turbo..put this..put that...but when people ask me bout cranks or camgears or camshafts...im out..
so basically...i really need detailed infos on how to change the engine...not really detailed but full information so i can re-do my car properly..
and by the way...for those toyota owners there here in toronto..can u please tell me where's the good place to shop for parts and stuff...i just moved here in toronto and i have no idea where to look for things...i dont even know where to look for the engines...so if u guys know any place where i can get parts for my tercel..please do tell me...thanks in advance...

Well for a start, you can go around the forum and search for information, that always helps. My first swap thats what I wished I had, a little detailed write up on how to do an engine swap, but might not be likely to be found anywhere. Also you can learn alot from Tercelonline.com, they got some good info and I'm sure you can figure out how to swap from that site. I know that when I swapped the tercel, I needed a wire harness, 5speed tranny(I didn't want 4 speed anymore), ECU, the engine, dont remember what else, but I know when you swap, these are not the only things that you will end up buying... My ass, I thought that it was just those... I ended up buying Polyeurothane stuff to fill my motor mounts, New clutch and flywheel(I was told it isn't necessary but recomended), and some other things that I can't think of.. But thats just me, everyone is different... Not sure if you need everything the same as doing a 4EFTE swap, someone who did it is bound to say something.
I put a 5EFHE engine which had 110 HP, I spent arount $3000 because I wanted to make sure everything was replaced so I don't F it up. You can use your stock 5spd tranny. I think you can finish your engine swap with around $1500 or less.
Yeah. The 5efhe is a great motor. I'll tell you this for sure once mine finally runs. It has not run in over 13 months. I hate the world... And I miss my Tercel.

Yeah, the 5EFHE had MAJOR balls when I drove it. I spanked cars that I never thought a tercel would. 13 MONTHS... dam whats wrong w/ it? But good luck with it tho.
He has a 5EF-HE...make sure its not just a regular 5e. and make sure he knows what he's doing. Wiring can be a pain. a 5EF-HE has 110-115 hp but if you get newer regular 5e it might have 92. if the engine is jdm you'll be in better luck
$950 to take your car from 3ee powered to 5efhe powered? Oh my!! Cheap as something really cheap like dirt or something. Damn, that's a pretty sweet deal. Wish I found that kind of deal in Manitoba.
And on an unrelated note, MY TERCEL IS NOW IN RUNNING!!!!! Not perfectly yet, but I switched wires around and now it starts!!! THE END IS NEAR!!!
