Unhappy Paseo 92 Help !

My Paseo 92 Has 221.000 Miles, Yeah a lot ! great car though.
I recently tunned it up, Set the timing and replaced all the wires and Plugs. One thing I need help with , I do not know why when I crank it , the RPMs go all the way to 2200.
If it is cold. then It drops. But when I am driving the RPMs keep varying. it goes up and down....
Any clues what could be the problem?
It irritates me , I know the car is old, but still I don't think the engine should be doing this. What should I look for ? EGR maybe?
Please advise . Thanks

I have a 93 that I just put a used throttle body on and it as well goes to 2200rpm when cold, it should untill it warms up this helps the warm up. I think that my old TB was or had a bad water port. Under the TB there is a place where water goes in and then out. when cold the TB goes to a high idle then when it warms up the valvve opens up and the idle goes down. Normal.

Now my 93 the idles roams from 900 to 1200 when I sit at a stop light, did it with the TB as well must be a sensor or something getting old. I don't worry tomuch about it the car is getting 41 MPG. hope this helps

The rev also changes with current load. If you are running defrost, heat, lights, or a powerful stereo the revs will vary to keep the battery charged.

I know I checked all my vaccum lines and changed the ones that looked dodgy in any way. I don't worry to much since it's getting cold and icy (car sit outside over night) the high revs at start up get it warm quicker. then it goes to around 1,000RPMs and as Pesop15psi said the idle changes as to what is on, even if sitting as a stop sign and turn the steering wheel there is a surg then back down.

Unhappy

I am not sure the car should be doing this. The RPMs are too high when the engine is cold and then it keeps varying up and down as I drive.
I checked all my vacuum hoses and the timing is correct.
Here in south Florida the temperature is warm pretty much year around..
I wonder if it could be an EGR problem …
Also the valves knock when I step on it. I use premium gas and as I said the timing is set properly …
I just tuned it up. New Plugs, Wires, Rotor and distributor cap. I will do the gas filter next.
But still I wish I would have a clue what is going on here …

Check your coolant system. If your thermostat is jacked or a sensor is bad, that could cause that problem. Also check to see that the coolant that runs into the intake manifold is flowing.
