97 Tercel auto trans fluid capacities

I have a 97 Tercel 3 speed auto trans with a seperate differential sump. I need to find out just how much trans fluid is the correct amount. I drained out the old fluide just from the trans pan and measured that amount. It had 3 quarts 12oz total. (not pints) . I am wondering if I have a Pasao trans in it because the owners manual states the level for my Tercel as holding 3pints. The Pasao trans holds 6.9 pints and that equals 3 quarts 12oz. I am totally confused about this. I replaced the trans fluid with Amsoil universal trans fluid and it took 3 QUARTS 12 OZ. I bought the car used and it has 80,000 miles on it . It is not leaking trans fluid or burning it . I have been checking it when its hot. Can you please help or give your thoughts on this confussion. Thanks , Dan M.
