Question Are New Head Bolts necessary??

Guys,
I'm in the process of rebuilding my 5efe.

Here is what I have done so far:

Block hot tanked, magnafluxed, power honed.
Crank re-ground.
Two new rods installed on old pistons.
Pistons re-ringed with NPR rings
Crank installed in block by machine shop.
Head checked out fine.
Pistons installed in block, with oversized rod bearings.

My bottom-end is complete.

I'm now ready to work on the upper half.

I'm going to purchase a head gasked set from Toyota, since the guy is giving me a good price!!

Is in absolutely necessary that I use NEW HEAD BOLTS ??

The lady that I purchase my parts from insists that I do, because the old bolts have stretched.

What do you guys think ?? Is is ok to use the old HEAD BOLTS ??

After all the car had bottom-end issues, and the upper-end (HEAD) checked out fine.

Let me know,

Thanks,

Reezytercel

After all that work... get new head bolts and replace any studs that you took a part off of. Those types of parts have a "stretch" rating and should be replaced once tweaked. It isn't something that you HAVE to do, but it is the smart thing to do and will save you problems down the road.

get new head bolts, they are "torque-to-yield" which means once you torque them in steps, and whatever degree extra turn, it clamps the head....the bolts twist and and this makes the old ones no longer useful
