5efhte vs TODA built 20v SilverTop

I am new to Toyota Nation but I have been a part of Club4ag for awhile. I am in the process of building up a TODA filled 20v SilverTop to be swapped into my brother Eric's 1994 Toyota Paseo. My brother Eric was killed as a passenger in a car accident and I am trying to complete what my brother Eric started. However, recently I have been coming accross some information about the rare 5EFHTE and the potential on that setup. Some people I have talked to say that 300 whp is possible! But there is just something about an all-motor 20v SilverTop and the sound of those individual throttle bodies reving that is amazing! I want to make my brother Eric proud and honor him and his dream the best way possible. I already have everything TODA Racing makes for the 20v SilverTop, however, I am still in need of some more items such as strut bar, cynos headlights, rear disc brake pads and rebuild kit (I already have the conversion) and some other minor items. So what do you guys think?? Can anyone just point me in the right direction??

Without a doubt a 20 valve with TODA parts will be a great motor. The ITB's with those high comp pistons and high revs would be insane, but a 5efhe with a turbo would be an easier build. Click my sig and check out my links for parts, check out my other home Tercelonline.com, and do a search here on good ole TN for info. You will find it. And as always, I extend my knowledge to every Paseo and Tercel driver, hit me up if you need me. I'm usually home in the late afternoon. I'm at work now, so I can't help too much right now. Welcome to the world of the Paseo!

Paseo15psi thank you so much for your time. Ever since my brother passed I have become sort of an expert on the Paseo to a point. From swapable parts to wiring diagrams, I want to know everything. As far as the 5efhte vs a TODA built Paseo I just wanted an outsiders opinion. However, no one has given me proof of the dyno numbers. I think the 20v ST will be a more impressive swap as far as power (All-Motor) and appearance. I am always up for more knowledge with the Paseo.

I think that Trevor from BYP has dyno proof of a 5efhte running stock internals at around 280 to the wheels. It was running race gas and high boost with a huge turbo, but it was doing it.

Yeah I think that was one of the people I had talked to. I live about 20 minutes from BYP down in Miami. I am just curious about the reliability factor. If everything goes well with the TODA 20v then I might but another Paseo cheap and build up a 5EFHTE for the track. Not sure yet. I need to finish Eric's dream first!!

hey man, i'm sorry about your brother. thats a noble thing youre doing for him.
if you are asking for advice on power outputs, the turbo will always win out cos you can always push it that bit more (at the expense of reliability) but if you are just asking an opinion about which to choose, i would have to say, a fully built 20v would be more enjoyable to drive.although you mightent get that same push in the back that a turbo can deliver, it would still be very fast. but the responsiveness and more importantly, the noise, would more than make up for it.

Roscosera, Thanks for your imput. I really appreciate it. My only obstacles now are ECU and Headers. I know www.Takakaira.com has many applications for the AE-101, however, I think there is clearance issues. Anyone know where to get some Starlet ep-82 rear calipers or at least the rebuild kit for them? I found the upgraded cross-drilled / slotted rotors for the rear but I need to rebuild the calipers. Again, any and all info you guys (and girls) can give me is greatly appriciated. Take care and GOD Bless!!!

Go check out the Paseo section of TercelOnline where I have a list of Toyota,TRD, and TOM'S parts for our cars including the Starlet rear caliper rebuild kit. There are no longer any more in the U.S., but they can be ordered direct through your dealer. There is a Starlet rear axle on ebay right now that has all you need to do a rear disc swap. If you miss that auction they can source you one or I can from one of my contacts.

Which one? We got several 5E-FHTE guys running around doing various numbers

Prize
STEALTH
VTEC-Hunter
FIRE
Mulberry*

Some of them are doing wayyy more than that. Last time I checked..both VTEC and the Stealth have upgrades in power.
