I put a '92 Paseo engine into a '89 2dr coupe. The mechanical part was quite easy but the wiring was a SOB!. If I was to do this again I would get Dr. Tweak or BYP to make me a wiring harnes. It took me 3 months and 1 week to do the wiring, and I will still need to go back in to rewire my headlights, the bright is fine but the low beam seems to not be grounding properly.
Sorry, I digress. Anyway the other problem was getting an inline electric pump that put out enough pressure that didn't cost an arm and a leg, then figuring out where to mount it. I originally put it in the engine compartment but have just relocated it to just behind and above the gas tank.
The pump I am using I got from Advance Auto Parts. The brand is "Master", the model # is
E8445 and I think the price was about $108.00
I also swapped in the Paseo front struts (keeping the Tercel top caps) and brakes (10mm larger diameter rotors). The 13" wheels will not fit over those brakes. I changed to 15" wheels with 195/50/15 tires (closest to original diameter)
I was lucky to find an almost complete donor car ('92 Paseo) in a local salvage yard and was able to get all the engine and dashboard wiring, ECU, vacuum switches and valves from the engine compartment.
The Paseo engine bolted right up to the Tercel transmission. The transmission was the only thing I didn't get off the Paseo (auto). The Paseo engine and transmission will swap straight into your car. The axle shafts I am told are the same. The chassis mount points are the same and the suspension pieces are interchangable.
Are you getting the Tranny too, or just the engine? If not I suggest you find a 5spd. I believe that there are two different transmission ratio sets in the different Paseos (92-95 and 96-98) Somewhere in the posts on this site I believe that there is info on that, you should search that out.
Get the Paseo alternator - (more amps), the power steering pump and hoses.
In the end I think my swap was worth the trouble, and now apart from being my daily driver, I autocross my Ter-
seo. Even though the engine swap puts me in a higher class against some realy fast cars, it is great fun.
If you think of anything I didn't cover e-mail me at <

Good luck
