Adding Performace Cone Filter to Tercel

I am looking at adding a Spectre Performace Cone filter (sold a Autozone) to my 1992 tercel. When I went to remove the stock airbox I found a vacuum line and a senser in the top portion of the box. Does anyone know what these item do and if they are needed and how to work around them. Also, any suggestions on piping from the throttle body to the filter.

thanks

scott

The sensor is the air sensor. You can just stick it to the side away from the motor and it will be fine. As for pipe size. I believe it is 2.5" that fits on the TB, but it doesn't matter with the right couplers.

I just completed the exact same mod your talking about with the spectre cone from Autozone. The sensor that protrudes from the top of the air box is the INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR. I just drilled a hole in the center cone cap and used the grommet from the air box and some silicone to allow the sensor to be placed into the new spectre filter. I also drilled a second smaller hole for the small MANIFOLD VACUUM HOSE in the large metal ring base of the new filter. I removed the top half of the stock air box and the old paper filter and left the bottom half in place to prop the new cone filter. Then just used the stock black plastic tube to attach it to. Hope this helps a little.
