Shifter sticking

With the cold weather my 1992 tercel 5-speed shifter has been sticking. From center-neutral poss. it will stick when moved left and right in neutral. When moved all the way to the left, it will move fine from full left to center but stick from center to full right. When pushed all the way to the right, it will work fine from center to all right but stick from center to full left. I also have a constant sticking problem from any position to 2 and from any position to 5.

I had sprayed some grease in the shift pivit portion in the center consol which kept things smooth during the summer months. Cleaned the grease out today and sprayed Tri-flow on everything including the exposed linkage in the consol.

any ideas?

thanks

scott

Did you spray the other end of the cables where they attach to the transmission?

If it gets cold enough, the shifter in my 92 Paseo will get harder to move.

Should be interesting this winter, since I installed an generic eBay Corolla short shifter, which firmed up the shifts alot. In neutral, I can push it to one side, or the other, and it will stay there.
