82 Tercel

I have an 82 tercel. Very nice car excellent mileage However lack of HP. I dont know but I have been really thinking about dropping a 4age 20V silvertop motor up in it. However there is practically nothing available for this car for example the axles will explode i know it. Is it possible to drop this motor in. As its basicly same size as the original Any intro's on were i should start?

to me, it would seem that the cost of the swap would outweigh the car itself. im sure if you're already comfortable with the car it would be nice to hold on to, but personally, i'm going to not spend a whole ton of money on my car, maybe a coupla hundred dollars, and eventually buy a newer car. i'm not sure about what car. i'd like to stay in the Toyota family, maybe even if i find another tercel, which are quite rare around here....but what i'm saying is that i would definitely not put a 5efhe in my 89 just because it would be rediculously cost inefficient. it definitely is awesome when someone does something like that, but in my position where i have to save for almost a year just to have enough money to get a decent car ($2500 price range), i can't use a whole lot of money on my car. personally, i would do everything i can myself. but anyways, those are good sites, and yeah it is definitely not easy to find parts for these cars before 1991, but that just makes it all the more fun

Yea it does have a 3ac. And from what i heard a 4age will drop in like nothing. Doing this will not cost alot of money. My friend dropped a 302 cubic inch ford into an old rx7 like it was cake and nearly killed himself. This drop shouldnt be hard considering you have some body mechanic who can help out. If i get any luck ima explain step by step what to do. The only thing is my cars quarter panel is jacked dont know were to find a new one might have to go bondo city or lead i dont know.
