Does anyone know what product is best to use for a crack in the block? My Brother said the Ceramic block sealer and then this salesperson at the autozone said this metallic stuff. So...If anyone does know, please drop me a line ASAP and let me know! Would greatly appreciate it!
Tlllhanx! I will try that product. Mine is about like your friends- water coming out of tailpipe and overflow for radiator. What I'm wondering if I should just leave it in like your bud did instead of flushing radiator. That sounds like a good move to me. Our mechanic already tried some type of rubber sealer and it did not hold. My Brother said to get Ceramic sealer, he's used it 3 times and everytime it worked he said, but I can't find a place in fresno, ca that sells it- I would have to order it and I don't have that kind of time. So... I will try what you recommended and when all done, let ya know how it went. Think I should just leave it in and not flush out? That way it can seal anything that may have a crack in it after engine block cracked. Whats your opinion on this? I gotta keep this car running till I can afford to either get a different car, which I don't want to do, I'd like to keep it as a second car if the sealer works.
[QUOTE=phyl26]Yeah, guess your right...in link with your previous post, I clicked it and it said one guy left it in his car, didn't drain it cuz he had a bad crack where it was coming out of muffler. It said it ran for 2 yrs. till he got in a wreck. I don't have a clue as to how the stuff works, but hey, anything that will work is better then no car at all! Thankx for all the info. Really appreciate it. Oh! and I think that the stuff the mechanic put in must have sealed some of the crack cuz no water out of muffler, now its coming out of the plastic overflow from radiator. good or bad? Also I forgot to ask ya, after we put this stuff in and follow directions on can, I can put anti-freeze back in radiator if the stuff seals the crack, right?
You may need to add the antifreeze at the same time you let out the excess. I honestly don't remeber what the instructions say. I wish I could give a better answer.
You have given me more solid info than anyone else on this forum. I will follow the directions on the can, and i also looked it up on AutoZone site and a manager got back to me and said that though it states its metallic based as it goes through the engine it turns into a procelin seal. We plan on putting it in with just plain water in radiator. I read somewhere you have to get all the anti-freeze out and make sure radiator is clean before you add the can of Sealer.
Then you drive it just around town a couple days, and then take it on freeway and drive it for 2-3 hours because the more it circulates thru the engine the more it seals the crack. After you have done all of this, you add the anti-freeze. Does this sound about right? Any way will post a new thread asa we get it all done and see if it holds. Whatever the mechanic put in also seems to be holding better each time we drive the car. It was running water out of muffler and overflow. Now, it only needs a little bit of water in the overflow. So we are hoping that the second time will do the trick. We don't know what sealer mechanic used. Gonna call him and see what brand and kind he used. will keep ya posted as to the results.
If it's getting better each drive I'd wait and see if what he put in finishes.
Thanks for the compliment but there are quite a few others here with excellent advice as well.

Yeah, we are going to wait. Now there is no water coming out of overflow either. So either this Sat. or Sun. if it continues not to run out the overflow, we're gonna put 1/2 antifreeze and 1/2 water into radiator. The Temp. gauge is now staying where it used to be when car was driven. The water is still hot but we have no antifreeze in it yet! So, hears hoping! to everyone on the forum who helped me figure this one out
