1995 speedometer probs

Ive got a new to me 95 tercel. on cold mornings I can hear what i think is the speedometer cable swirling in the dash. Can I unsnap it from the speedometer pull the teleflex cable out and lube it up? or do these have electronic speedometers? Oh yeah, its manual 4 speed trans.

I've got a 95 tercel. I've restored it two summers ago, and encountered the same when it is very cold. To answer your question, it is mechanical. I thought i've donne something wrong when putting back the dash until i read your thread.
