Question Ball joint replacement

Well I'm new here, so hi everyone.

Anyway, down to business. I took my 1995 Automatic Tercel to Canadian Tire yesterday for a wheel balacing because I was getting some very uncomfortable shaking at about 85-95km/h. They balanced the wheels and she drives really well now but they also told me that my drivers side ball joint needs to be replaced very very very soon.

I've had just about enough of paying for labor and I would much rather spend money on tools to do it myself. They quoted me $77 CAD for the part and $130 for the labor, but unless it is extremely difficult I have my heart set on doing the work myself.

My questions are:
Does anyone know how much Toyota charges for the part? more/less than the $77 @ cantire?
Is this a difficult job? How long might it take me (I'm a total beginner when it comes to car repair. All I've done is oil changes and replaced my thermostat.)
I have the Toyota factory repair manual and it says I need a ball joint removal tool. How much do these cost? Is there a way to do it without this tool?

Are there any suprises I can expect?

Thanks.

Steps
1, jack up corner and remove wheel
2, turn wheel for easiest access, then remove pin and nut holding balljoint in knuckle
3, remove nuts/bolts holding balljoint to control arm
4, support knuckle, use large punch and huge hammer to smack the top of balljoint driving it down and out of knuckle
5, slip new balljoint back in knuckle and start nut
6, reinstall nuts/bolts that attach balljoint to control arm, tighten
7, tighten nut that holds balljoint to knuckle, insert pin, bend so it cannot come out unless straightened
8, put wheel back on, tighten, put car back on ground
9, test drive, put tools away, wash up
10, roll one and celebrate

Hey,

You can get a pickle fork, or a ball joint removal tool, for less than 15 bucks.
