Hello all.
I thought I saw a postion some time ago that listed and compared the ratios of the Tercel/Paseo gearboxes and that of the 4AG engines. I have used the search feature but come up blank. Could I have been mistaken about seeing it here or am I just not putting in the correct key words.
Does anybody have this information on hand?

I found the ratios for the C150 manual transaxle used in the '92 Paseo. I believe they are the same in the Tercel. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway I just thought of looking in my repair manual and there it is.
1St - 3.545 : 1
2nd - 1.904 : 1
3rd - 1.310 : 1
4th - 0.969 : 1
5th - 0.815 : 1
Rev - 3.250 : 1
Differential 3.941 : 1
Does anybody have a book on any car with a 4AGE engine, or maybe the 4AFE might be the same. I'd like to compare the ratios.

Here goes... keep in mind that a C## transmission will have the same gear ratios as a C1## transmission... wherever possible, I tell whether a C## and/or C1## was available for that particular ratio set, but that doesn't mean that one can't exist... All C-series transmissions have a 3.250 reverse gear ratio, new generation C55# notwithstanding; they use a 3.214 reverse and 3.944 axle ratio exclusively.

Sweet!!!
Ok, so now I am thinking that the Tercel needs a 1st gear set from a C52 transmission to reduce the gap between 1st and 2nd. That 3.545 is just too low. I wonder if it will swap in?

It'd be nice if we could just pick and choose the gears but from what I understand they are a cluster that doesn't seperate. I have a spare 5 speed from a 93 DX to disect and see what they really do consist of. Just waiting on time/space. I'd like to know if a corolla auto diff will go in a manual. I may have one of those in the test pile soon as well.
I remember reading somewhere, I don't remember if it was here or on Tercel Online, that the 4AGE gearbox innerds would swap into the Tercel/Paseo gearbox and that would be a more evenly spaced set of ratios. If that swap is really possible I think that will be my next project after getting my rear sway bar installed.
