knock and an oil leak

hey, i bought my first toyota a month ago for pretty cheap it came with a slight knock and a possible oil leak and i am curious as to how expensive and how i should go about fixing this issue, can i have it bore out and put new pistons and rings in or should i just scrap the engine and buy a new engine?

okay, that's good. here's the deal. most of the time, in my case, finding an oil leak is almost like trying to find a mouse in the country...not very easy, and especially since everything in these cars is fairly cramped together. here are some hot spots that wouldnt hurt to check. check your valve cover, your rear seal, and right under your distributor. these are fairly obvious, but it cant hurt to check it. as for the knocking, is it more of a deep knocking? or is it a higher pitched clicking. do you know exactly where it's coming from?

the engine you got in there, 3ee, is not worth the rebuild.
I would suggest getting a 5efe from a first gen paseo and dropping that in.
You get the harness and ECU from the paseo and it drops right in
