Blinker turns on my brights

I have a '91 Tercel. When I have my headlights on and then use my blinker to turn left, it almost always turns my brights on also. When I want to actually use my brights, they do not stay on. Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions to fix it?

you do know that to have your brights on, you have to push it forward rather than pull it backward and it clicks....right?

The quick flash is a signaling device. It is for the purpose of getting someones attension.
It is used in Europe and other places in the world, on multi lane highways, to signal a slower car in front of you that you would like them to move out of the passing lane so you can pass them. It is also used to signal another driver at an intersection, for instance, that you are yeilding right-of-way for them to procede. It can be used to warn someone who might have not seen you and is planning to pull out in front of you that you are comming. It can also be used to let a friend that you are following know that you have a problem and need to stop. If it is used correctly it can be quite helpful.

It's pretty common for the combination switch to wear out. Mine is beginning to act up a bit as well. Just go pull one from a junkyard or keep an eye on ebay.

my 91 does the same thing. I have learned you can apply a little foward or backward motion as you move the signal to find the sweet spot where it wont flash the highbeams. I suppose someday i should pull a switch from a junker....
