Not sure about vacuum hose placement

Should the small hose on the left front side of the stock air cleaner box (Gen 1, 5EFE automatic, air), which is plugged into a deadhead adapter (no hole), plug into the front or rear attachment point shown in the following pic

I can't find it in the literature and the only pic I've seen shows the hose (sans adapter) attached at the rear point. Since the adapter IS a deadhead (or plug), it probably doesn't matter--but I'm curious to the point of distraction.

Here is an enhanced(?) vacuum diagram from the technical guide. This is for the 5efe with auto to federal specs.

Still doesn't tell me much about the attachment point for this hose, but it explains the system, which is helpful.

Gen1

The hose connection is the rear fitting on the air filter box's front left side. The front fitting is blocked. Again, this is for the '92 5efe Auto with air. fyi. Per: my mechanic.
