Rough Idle
92 Tercel, manual transmission, 285,000kms.
When first started, on a cold morning, the engine runs roughly (as if on 3 cylinders) for about 10 seconds, and then runs smoothly. Then when the engine warms up, and the idle rpm drops down to about 750rpm, it runs roughly again, with too much vibration. As soon as you press the gas pedal and raise the rpm to about 1,000 or above, it runs smoothly, and has no lack of power.
It has been doing this for a few years. I have changed plugs, wires, disty cap and rotor, pcv, with no improvement. I checked the compression last year, and it was good on all four cylinders.
Does anyone have any clue what might be the cause?
