Arrow 94 Tercel Takes Multiple Trys To Start

For a couple of days now, one of two things happen when I try to start my 94 Tercel...

1. The car starts
2. When I turn the key to the start position, I get a 'click' and thats it.
then when I try to start it up a second time, about 4 secs later, it starts up fine.

The most recent work done was replacement of the cylinder head and this problem usually shows when the car sits overnight...but it happened to me yesterday as well when the engine had just been driven and was still at normal operating temperature.

Any ideas?

You're very welcome. By chance if your starter doesn't look like the one on my post I'd recommend buying a replacement starter.
