My 4EFTE swap went almost flawless and I started it up on the first key turning today at 7:00pm! Tonight I'll work on the computer version of the wiring diagram I drew up to make my harness from. Keep in mind this is a 1993 Tercel and the 4EFTE ECU is #89661-10100, 211000-0550. Different cars may have different wiring and different ECU's will as well. In no way is this forum or myself responsible for any damages incurred should you attempt to duplicate my harness.
I just got permission from the boss to use the tow truck and take time off tomorrow to get my 3" exhaust run. I'm so happy!

Modification: Changing something to what you thought it should have been from the start!
Got back from the exhaust shop and filled the transmission with a few quarts of 10W-30 (yeah I know it calls for 90W) and hit the road. The power difference is unbelievable for only a 50hp gain. The supertrapp and 3" pipe sounds great. A lot like the sound you'd hear if you stepped on a nest of ground hornets. I can't wait for the next race event!
thats sweet man. i'm actually curious, since i started getting my interior harness back in mine today. the part of the engine harness that goes inside the car, does it need to be modified at all?
i'm thinkin of just sending my 3e and 4e harness to byp, save me some work. i'm having a hard time coordinating my action plan here, everytime i try to do something, i need something else first, AGHR....but its moving along...slowly but surely
As DrTweak said in his general wiring post you don't mess with the actual engine wiring. The way I did mine was take a picture of every plug on the J harness then take pics of the 3 plugs I'd need from the A harness. I pasted the ECU in center and the diag plug nearby as those have the most wires and several run straight from one to the other. After drawing the wires from the ECU to each plug and labeling them with the colors I made sure to document the splices, and there are several. Then I looked up what the A harness wires do and where they go. Drew them out and started drawing the places I'd need to butt connect wires. After looking over everything several times and having only a few wires that I had no clue as to where they went or what they were for I took a few deep breaths and a toke or two and cut the plugs off then added wire where needed, redirected wires from one area to another and connected the new plugs on. I then stretched the harness out as far as possible since it had now become a twisted mess and I zip tied sections up. I'm driving it now with the harness unloomed and glad I am as I have a small glitch to find. My low beam headlights are very dim. High beam is fine though.
It'll take a few days to get the diagram I used converted to a computer file. It made mine easier for me.
Thanks y'all, and I found my dim light trouble. I was so excited to go for a spin that my stoned lil arse plugged up a headlight sideways only connecting 2 of the 3 terminals. All is fine now. I'll let y'all know how it does after the next event, 5/21/06.

Bother I am so damn proud of you, that you by passed that 350$ rip of lol.
I am getting my motor with in week of two. And I don't have money for the custom harnesses. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. Help me wire 4EFTE in my car. Mine is 94. SO it wil be the same as yours. You said you will post a detailed pics on how you did it. I can't wait. Since I will use them and treat the as if it was a Tercel Bible.
If you have a minute and willing to help me out a little bit you can add me to your MSN. Or just Email me some guide lines. Highlander1985@hotmail.com
If I will ever wire that motor in, then people in my town will look at the Tercel in the whole new light.
Never assume the cars are the same! Does mine or yours have power steering? ABS? A/C? Heated rear window? Auto trans? All of these things can alter a few wires here and there. Then there's the 4EFTE ECU, there are more than 3 of them for manual transmission alone.

MAN my hopes were through the roof and now you just poped my baloon lol.
Why you had to go and ask all of those things lol. Jk.
I have Power steering. No ABS. No AC (BTW I hate them both ABS and AC). And yes heatted Rear window. And yes Auto tranny. And with the swap I am putting in standard.....Its 94.
And ECU. I can get any of the three. Just tell me what one. Since my swap does not come with it lol. So it can be a free option
If you have any other questions about my set up, please ask me. I really hope you can help me. I been looking for the proper person who knows what he is doing for a while now. And I know you that person. Please. PLEASE. You got to help me out.
I am on the very tight budget so I could not get the BYP harnesses even if I wanted to
And if I back down now there will be no end to my hummiliation in my town.
