When you went up in rim size did you go down in tire profile. Eg: from a 155/80/13 to a 185/60-14, you can see from the chart below that is the best size, and what the difference in the number of rotations per mile can be with the other sizes. Your speedometer reads rotations so if your tires are turning less per mile your speedometer (and odometer) will be incorrect, so when you check your fuel consumption it might be incorrect also.
