scrapping some ideas for rwd conversion

i have been thinking of what would make my rwd conversion i am in the process of doing just a little more different. i think i have a good idea with deisel. now before you all think i am on drugs or something, think about mileage, torque possibilties, and current technologies to make deisels quiter and less notisably a deisel. the question i am asking every one is what is the best four banger deisel toyota makes. i am talking about newer ones that i can easily put an after market computer system on. thinking mega squirt, its cheap and does all sorts of stuff. from injection to turbo timing. keep in mind i am still thinking lite, all though i know deisels aren't, but power to weight is what i want. thanks for any help.

Theres a deisel engine that came in some other versions of the tercel, they come up now and again... If I were doing that swap I would look for that just becasue you knoe it will go in there with little trouble.

There is a Turbo charged diesel JDM tercel engine. That should drop in without any physical mods. That trim was known as the windy

From what I've read Toyota diesels are mechanical thus no computer. Read the sticky on it?

am stiil doing rwd, just looking for a good efi or mpfi diesel. thanx for the help though on the stock tercel diesel. i have done some research and found some potentials. 1cd-ftv is a great efi turbo with stock 110 hp and 185 ftlbs and dohc. with proper turbo performance and better fuel managment i think this has the front runner. the only problem is it is an european engine and they dont get rid of diesels there very often. maybe japan has a good engine i am unable to find. the 1kz is a good four banging diesel, but it is probably way to large since it is used in suvs and trucks. next idea is the 13b-t stock power is 118 hp and 210 ftlbs. and 3 point something for displacement.
