Does anyone have any opinions on them? I am going to have my plugs changed this week, and the guy suggested, since my plugs get gunked with oil every 10 months or so due to either needing rings or valve stem seals--that if I get oil adapters (fillers?) for the plugs that would help them get a longer life.
OK, so I call the parts place to see if they have them. But the parts guy recommended against it. He said something about aluminum (?) and said with some cars that might work but with my car it would possibly cause other things to overheat and create new problems.
So, who should I believe, this parts guy or the guy who suggested using these adapters?
Ok! Somebody tell me what these oil adaptors are ...... please????
I've never heard of them. A photo or diagram would be good.

They space the plug away from the combustion chamber to slow the fouling. It's considered a cheap way to get extra miles from an engine. However in today's world with the price of petroleum it doesn't take long at all for the extra oil and fuel to outweigh the repair cost.
Obviously, if I could afford to get the valve seals done, I would. Also, one mechanic told me that it isn't necessarily the valve seals, it could be the piston rings. Another offered to test to tell me which, for the price of $75 just for the test.
I work freelance, and not working right now. So, no, can't just have them changed and "be done with it".
Several times in the questions you've asked you've gotten various answers and want to know who is right and who is wrong. As in your job the way you describe an event may not be exactly as another person describes an event, neither being wrong, just different opinions and methods.
As much oil as you've described the car as loosing both externally and internally it's possible that every seal and ring are worn out. I'd be interested to know how this mechanic will be testing to see rather it's the valve seals or the rings as in my 25+ years of professional wrench turning I've never heard of this test. I'm not saying it doesn't exist though. Many haven't heard of the dye to test a blown head gasket.
My point is if you are being as sharp to the mechanics as you are towards us attempting to offer free advise then I can see why they are so cautious in telling you what they feel is wrong.

Wow! Just like my dad used to say, " Life is like a school. You may learn something new every day. Any day that you learn something is a good day"
Well thank you, I learned something today.
I guess the performance lost by moving the plug out of the combustion chamber would be insignificant if they are fouling so bad that you need these adaptors.
