Halfshaft Damper

Hi all,

My damper on my halfshaft has split and is rattling around on the axle.

I can't find these for sale anywhere on line. no real info on changing it either. I've seen some rebuilt axles that dont look like they even have it.
Do I need to replace it, what if I just leave it as is? The noise really does get annoying,
at first I thought there were empty beer bottles under the passenger seat.

thanks..Paul

You can use a grinder and cut it off if it annoys you enough. Just don't cut into the shaft.

But it wont hurt anything to drive it as is, other than my sanity.

As long as it doesn't bother the boots nor appear to get jammed anywhere it shouldn't bother anything.

I had the same thing happen. I just cut it off like GTS said. A few thousand miles later now and no problems.
