Canada Rpm

Hey, i have a 99 tercel that doesn't have a tac on it, does anybody know what RPM the engine is at in 5th gear (5 speed stick) @ 120 km/h.

Roughly 3300-3700 depending which transmission you have.

I think your RPM would be around 3400 RPM.

Why would they put a 5 speed stick and no tach? Makes no sense to me. Most automatics have tach these days, which in my opinion is purely so auto drivers can pretend to have a stick...lol

or not. there are actually a lot of vehicles that came in a stick but didnt have tachs. nissan trucks didnt have them until later, like 94 i think. even blazers didnt have them until 96 i believe. the point of a tach on an automatic is so you will be able to notice if anything is wrong. that's not the whole point, but that is what majority of mechanics i've come across use it for. it's good for tuning as well. my brother was looking at a car (88 cosica) and we found out by using the tachometer that the converter solonoid was not plugged in, so it would never shift into a cruising gear...they reall are handy...

91-94 Tercel didn't come with tachs at all that I know of.

95-98 didnt either...only Paseos came with them.
