HELP!!! my engine stumbles on acceleration

can anyone tell me wats goin on here??? it takes usually 2 turns to start the car and when its in neutral its fine but when i put it in drive it stumbles really bad. i've replaced the spark plugs, plug wires, distributer cap, rotar, fuel filter, and still havent solved the problem. anybody have the same experience before??? my very smart diesel technician friend thinks its the fuel pump, wat do you guys think???

First I'd run a compression test. If it passes that I'd check fuel pressure then timing.

well, if its only when its in gear you should check your tranny fluid... maybe your torque converter is starting to go. you might just need to flush your fluid and change your filter.

well ive looked through all the troubleshooting and came to a conclusion thats its either the fuel pump is no good or the CAT converter is clogged, sound reasonable?

What are the specs on your setup steveo? Are you running a swap or the stock motor?

I'd check the for bad grounds, cracked ignition wires, etc.

if you get an okay flow and no stumbling at higher rpms only, it's your cat. so far, i really doubt that that's what it is.

to do a compression test, you can find or purchase a compression gauge that you either screw into one of the spark plug holes or hold up against the hole (i wouldnt suggest the latter)

^ Do this on each cylinder, if you find a low cylinder then plug an air hose to the adapter to force air into that cylinder. Then listen for leaking air to be escaping through the exhaust pipe, the intake, the crankcase or the radiator. This will tell you where the leak is if one is to be found.
Anytime you or anybody reading this forum has a question about a test please don't feel stupid, just ask. We're glad to explain and at one point none of us knew either.
