Someone please post on here that you need backpressure for these little engines to run properly!

If the pipe is small enough you still get the backpressure needed. The government might be unhappy if they see no cat inline though.

dont listen to this retard, i cut the muffler off my car and he thinks that my car is messed up because of that, if u look at my post http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t134425.html he thinks my car is stumbling on acceleration because i cut my muffler off, but could some1 please help me with my problem PLEASE!!!

another problem with a straight pipe is because you dont have as large of exhaust the temp of your exhaust cools closer to the engine. if you get cold air theres a chance you can burn your valves up. thats why they say you should NEVER run open header.... even for a short time. figure, your valves are thin metal, extreme heat and cool burst of air is bad news for it.
