Alas, my aging Tercel...

I drive an '84 Tercel SR5 4WD station wagon that has about 235,000 miles. Just yesterday, I noticed that the radiator fan was making new and strange intermittent noises, both while the engine is running, with or without the A-C on, and just after I shut the engine off. The noise is like a rattle or clanking. Any ideas? Much thanks.
