instant smoke GALORE=

1992 paseo with 145,000 miles. today while i was driving all of a sudden huge amounts of smoke started coming out of the exhaust . this car never did even smoke a little previously. also i heard something sounded like valves clicking, tapping, etc. this car had a few little oil leaks before. a little oil always drips out the bottom of the distributor. last week my shadytree mechanic replaced the crank seal ring. did timing belt a few weeks ago. question = what would make a paseo instantly smoke so much. i thought the car was on fire! thanks for any help you guys can provide.

it looked light blue or white. i started it today and it is still smoking even on initial start up cold. the coolant in the resivoir has a light shade of brown. i,m praying it ain,t got a blown head gasket or worst. NOTE = i failed to mention that i dogged the heck out of the car the night before it smoked. it is possible that i got close to the red line. thanks for you response.

Does it seem to be skipping? Pull the plugs out and see if any are oil soaked/bent.

Well if only one is oily it'll at least tell you which cylinder is smoking if not all. You really don't want to see a bent one.

If you saw a brownish color in your coolant, I got bad news for ya. that generally means head gasket go bye bye. check your oil for a color and consistancy of a milkshake. if you've got that, its head pullin time.

bent plug= mega trouble.

was the smoke intermittent? did it ever stop? sometimes a failing(but not totally gone)vac booster for the master cylinder will do something like this, but you'll notice the vac. leak in the way the engine runs, unless its a very small pinhole, but either way you'll know soon.
