4th Generation hey, I drive a tercel and have a question!

The machine shop caled me up and told me what they did they bored it .040 out and shaved the block 8 thousands and the head 15 thousands im worried that my valves and pistons are going to clash. Does anyone know if they will or not?

8 thousands + 15 thousands = 23 thousands = 0.023 inches. (Boring out the cylinders won't make any difference to the clearance between pistons and valves, so I've ignored it.) That's still an order of magnitude smaller than the sort of carbon build-up you normally get on piston heads and valves. If shaving that amount off the block and head were going to turn your engine into an interference engine, then even the smallest bit of carbon build-up would immediately turn it into an interference engine. Since I have never heard of the latter problem on these engines, I very much doubt you will have any problem.
