Deckplate Modd

Is it ok if I take off the tubing to my air filter box? Take it all off and run it as if I did i deckplate mod? Would it increase any response in the engine or will it stay the same since im sucking in more hot air but being less restrictive? Oh by the way my engine bay isnt this messy I took this picture before i cleaned it up ....

or ypu could go with your stock setup and just replace the element <air filter>in the box with a k&n and get better results than a short ram intake pipe your already at the coldest point with the stock setup straight from the front of the car you cant get anybetter than that unless you cut a hole in the hood and put the filter on the throttle body.
