still not starting

I have a 94 Tercel

On trying to start car sometimes I will get a loud pop and it won't start.. Compression is OK, timing belt is intact, rotor turns... here is whatI have done so far.

Replaced ECM, ignitor, fuel pump, EFI relay
New spark plugs and wires. New disitributor cap & rotor. New fuel filter

Maybe valve timing from a slipped timining belt. How would I check/adjust for this?

I was running just fine before this happened!

I'm not sure what is left... ideas!?

If the compression is OK, then the valve timing must be OK too, so I don't think the timing belt has slipped. Have you checked for spark? Remove one spark plug, lay it on the block, and watch for spark while a friend cranks the engine.

Well I checked the valve timing and it lines up okay, first tick mark. Plus the timing belt looks like it is in pretty good shape.

What else in the igntion system could it be? I've replaced most of it!

I finally talked to a mechanic, said it might be the crankshaft position sensor. Where is this?

I don't think a 94 has one.
Does the plugs spark doing the above mentioned test? Check all 4.
