Paseo Fuel Pump Question

A few months ago I changed the fuel filter on my '94 Paseo and let it set for about 6 months. Now when I try to crank it, it will not start.

I removed the fuel hose coming out of the filter and the fuel level when I crank is at the top of the filter, but does not overflow. This makes me think the fuel pump is bad.

BTW, the fuel gage reads empty, even though I have added several gallons of fuel to the tank. I don't understand this either.

Any ideas?

Anyone changed a fuel pump on a Paseo?

Thanks in advance,
Bill

Maybe, just maybe, the wires to the fuel pump and to the fuel gauge in the gas tank have become disconnected or broken.

Not 100% sure about this, but I think you should remove the rear seat and have a look.
