Tercel interference engine design

I have a 1993 Toyota Tercel 1.5L and the timing belt just broke. Is this an interference design? I've asked this question of several local dealers and they have not answered the same.

What complicates this is that it does not have the original engine. I had a remanufactured engine installed a number of years ago, which I guess could be a slightly different model.

Its not worth my bother to replace the timing belt if it also needs a valve job.

Its a 1.5 liter fuel injected engine. Can you tell me how to identify it more specifically?

Your engine is non-interference. Both the 3E(E) and 5E-FE are non-interference. Your valves are fine.
