93 Paseo engine woes

My son did not change the oil in the 93 paseo 1.5 the whole year and now a rod is knocking. guess I will have to rebuild the other engine in the shed. but I switched this one out for a knocking rod is this a common problem on these engines?

A whole year O_o, just curious but could you take pictures of what to motor looks like on the inside with that oil in there for that long. If its too much work dont worry.

Common problem on these motor is burning oil aka bad valve seals...Not rod knock...

yea sure but it will be a while, I now have the other engine in the machine shop, and he is currently still driving the car. so when It comes time to pull it in about two weeks I will see what it looks like. It actually looks like the oil got to thin with the oil light coming on and all.
