Lift it

Hi,
I have a 1996 Tercel, base model, 1.5 4 speed. No frills.
The car has 198K and still gets 40 MPG (in the summer).

My only complaint about the car is that if we get 4 inches of snow then the car won't go through it. The nose is to low and the front end starts to "plow" the snow. The car is so light that the wheels just spin. I want to put larger tires on it, but there is no clearence between the top on the tire and the spring plate on the strut.

Can I buy longer struts and raise the front end about 3 or 4 inches?
I'd really like to lift the whole car and put wider, more aggresive rubber on it.
I don't care if I lose some of the milage, I just want it up more in the air.

Has anyone lifted their Tercel?

Thanks

TRD used to sell rally springs that offered some lift. Good luck finding those though.

Before you do anything, just check that your existing springs have not broken. My daughter's 92 Tercel had two broken springs (though, it had been driven over some rough roads). The ground clearance is supposed to be more than 4".
