suspension, pot holes & bump stops

It seems like evey time I hit a pot hole of go over speed bump, I am dropping to hard or rather feel it to much. Like down in the bowels! I feels like I am hitting the bump stops. Would this be more likely the shocks/struts or the springs? Who has decent progresive bump stops that aren't super harsh?

Your shocks/struts are done. What type of car do you have? Year? Milage? Shocks/struts for the tercel are cheap. If you can do the job yourself it is a very easy repair, but you will need a spring compressor to do the job. Depending on the miles on your car the springs may be old and tired but your shocks are causing the jarring ride.
