Canada Paseo Daytime Running Lights?!?

I've recently got a 93 Paseo and when I put the key in the ignition and turn it, not only do the headlights come on, but so do the marker light, taillights and license plate light. Is this a normal function? I found the tail light relay and unplugged it. When I do that, only the headlights come on. Problem is, even if I turn the light switch on, with the relay unplugged I lose all maker and tail lights. It needs to be plugged in. Help?!?

(I've just done a 4efte swap and want to be sure I haven't screwed up the lighting system)

I don't think North America market Paseo's came with daytime running lights. I think you wired in the power wire for the lights somewhee.

No, Paseos in Canada had that as an option. It is a normal function.

Yes, it's normal. It's call day time running lights that don't suck. Sadly, they quit this in newer cars. Now the day time running lights only turn on dim front lights, so dumb people drive around without their lights on and have no tail lights and front lights that really don't show up that well.
