Tercel Engine Swap Details

Need to replace the engine in my 94 Tercel, 1.5 automatic. May have access to a Paseo 92-95 motor. I'm not looking for an upgrade, just want to get the Tercel back on the road. Seems like the Paseo motors are easier to come by.

From what I've read soo far, sounds like it will bolt right to the existing Tercel transmission. What about the existing Tercel intake and exhaust manifolds? Will those bolt on as well, or do I have more work in store. Also, what about engine mounts, water lines?

just about everything will bolt up. notable exceptions are:
1)exhaust and intake manifolds have different bolt patterns, so you'll have use the paseo ones, which will work fine
2)if you're using the tercel's electrical, you'll have to do a small modification to the paseo's distributor wiring. check the stickied thread on board.tercelonline.com in the 5e engine section titled "straightforward 3e to 5e swap" or something like that.
3) the paseo's throttle body is a little different, so it'll be easiest to use your tercel one.
4) you'll need a different intake hose to go to your airbox, or some other kind of intake.
5) if you have power steering, you will need the 5efe mounting brackets to mount your power steering pump.

other than that, everything is compatable. tercel mounts bolt right up to the 5e's block and fit perfectly, tranny bolts up fine, cooling system will work fine, etc etc. You can put all your sesnsors from your 3e into the 5e, as well as your injectors. Good luck!
