Question problem shifting into 3rd gear

I had an engine swap and everything else possible on my 97 tercel. during test runs I'm having problems shifting into 3rd and 5t gears, it's almost impossible to put into 3rd. i wonder if its because shifter cables are different length on the starlet and tercel. any ideas??

The shifter cables from your Tercel will work on any "E" series swap with no problem. I would check the syncros, especially if you swapped in a used tranny when you swapped your engine.

Did you put gear oil in your trany? It takes 75-90w or 80-90w about 4qts or just fill it till it starts to pour out the hole.
