4. Check for ecu codes to try to find out why your engine is running rich. If your car is a 93, it is OBD1, and you can use a paper clip and this procedure to read the codes: http://www.troublecodes.net/Toyota/ . The rich mixture would also explain your lack of power (item 3). The problem might be a faulty O2 sensor, or maybe a faulty coolant temp sensor (especially if you have a high idle). Regarding the oil burning (a separate issue from running rich): check the PCV valve (does it rattle? it should), and replace it if in doubt, since it's so cheap and easy. Also do a compression test. Is the oil burning mostly on startup (a big cloud of blue smoke when you start the car in the morning)? If so, it's probably valve stem seals.
2. If the airbag light stays on it means the diagnostic module is disconnected or malfunctioning. I have no idea where to find the diagnostic module.

The only thing different about a JDM engine is the emission standards which free up a couple of ponies here and there.

I am almost done with mine. It was pretty easy to install. Any one I have talked to about it likes it. I got mine from e-bay but if you want to send about 2 and half grand buy one from trevor from BYP. The quality and experience is worth the price. Stock 5e-fe about a 100 HP, stock 4e-fte about 133 HP. Yes you could turbo your 5e but really internal strength is good for longevity. The 5E-FHE is more of a canidate for turboing. Some people even go to the exstant to making a hybrid 4e/5e with the 5E-FHE bottom and the 4E-FTE top and turbo.

Could be lots of stuff, bad rings, bad fuel pump, who knows. I am no expert but I try. First reset your fuel map. If you are still dumping alot of fuel, get your timing reset. It could have jumped. Also check your sparkplugs and O2 sensor. That about all I can say right now without making more of a fool of myself.

Well define problems? Anyone that has a body kit has the same problems that anyone with a body kit: cracking, chipped paint, ect.
Check this forum post for body kits. Whats nice about the Erebuni kit is it is Poly

Looks very nice. I love how clean you have kept things. I hope I have help you and again welcome!
Since I sell the Erebuni kit for our cars, I tried it and it's great. I even lucked up and got the matching spoiler. Being in New York City, the poly kit is a must. I do have a JetSpeed front end that I can throw on whenever I want a sportier look, but the Erebuni kit stays on the car 95% of the time.
As for all your problems... spend the 20-80 bucks on ebay and get a Toyota Repair manual. Get an official one, not that CD crap. The Toyota manuals have saved me thousands of dollars. They are the best way to diag your Airbag light and fuel issue even using the paper clip method. You could buy one of those cheap diag tools from ebay, they work ok.
About the swap. I say buy the cheapest complete 4efte from ebay. Take all the parts from it and build you a 5efte. Speedvision is selling some manifolds and downpipes on TercelOnline, that would be a good investment. Ofcourse I would suggest a E-Manage Ultimate to run it. Check out www.TercelClub.com or www.TercelOnline.com for more info. Most of us here are members of both sites. Let me know if I can help as I have a 92 and a 96 Paseo and don't mind helping a fellow member.
You sell the kit? hmm i might be hitting you up in the future. I would love to have that spoiler. and you can get the paseo manual on insaneintention on the engine section

would it throw a code even if the check engine light isnt on?

4. my car burns oil and runs too rich..i get residue on my back bumper..i hate it..id love to see it go away...any suggestions?
heh... welcome to my first two engines..
from what i've seen on almost all the toyota's i've owned and worked on of that generation (91 - 95) they ALL burn oil at some point through out it's life.
my first truck 94 toyota pickup (22re), burnt oil...
ae86 was actually leaking oil, but it had 300,000+ miles on the original motor, still made a good 87whp on Vishnu Performance's dyno
my second truck 87 4runner (22re) also burnt oil....
first engine (5efe) was just a $hit pile cuz my sister would only add oil to the engine rather than doing actual oil changes and it only had one tune up when it was bought. i had a knocking rod within 2 months of driving that POS engine
second engine - JDM (5efe) motor - i picked out the best one i could choose from that the warehouse had. there was oil debris and oil burn stains (although it was cleaned off) on the cam cover - you could see the discoloration on the silver. had a rod knock again due to me neglecting to check my oil. the mechanic told me that because the japanese guys out that way don't really change their oil since they have to change engines so frequently, which when they're sent to the US, if not taken care of properly, will also fail
3rd 5efe - doesn't leak or burn. JACKPOT!!!!
but, the downside for my car at the moment, is that the engine didn't come with an EGR valve, and some over smog emissions requirements. i fail the visual test in a heartbeat. as far as a few extra ponies go? not enough to feel a difference. especially after 1 - 2 weeks of not being able to drive the car.
That is why you get a 5efhe and not just a JDM 5efe.
im not real sure of the difference...enlighten me....
also..i changed the plugs today...the old ones were shot..its running better...no hesitation upon hitting the gas...however now my damn trans that i just put in is leaking a little gear oil...im going to replace the axle seal and hope for the best....the plugs were pretty black...the PCV valve is good...whats the next process of elimination to cure the car from running too rich?

5efhe has higher compression, dual intake runners, it has a seperate ignition coil, a better stock exhaust manifold, and beefier rods. It is the Superior "e" series engine.
As for your lights... is it an aftermarket or the factory alarm?
